- More The Beatles
Sir Paul McCartney says he “fancies” playing an O2 Arena residency in London.
The Beatles legend plays the venue this week admitted to Absolute Radio that he “quite fancied the idea” of following in Bon Jovi, Britney Spears and Prince's lead and play a series of shows.
He continued: "Last time I ever did that was when The Beatles used to do Christmas shows, and it was brilliant because you would be there for a week or two. It was fantastic, just dossing in your overcoat and everything."
Tomorrow's O2 Arena show is Macca's only UK date of 2009 having played shows in America throughout the year.
The 67-year-old explained: "I came back from America and a lot of people said, 'Oh, I hear you've been to America, are you doing any British dates?' I said, 'No', and they said, 'Oh, why not?'," he told drivetime DJ Geoff Lloyd.
"So I rung my promoter and said, 'Hey, can we do some English dates and can we play maybe Scotland?'
"He had a brilliant idea of the Union Jack Tour, it was going to be Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, but he couldn't get the availability at such short notice."
