Dracula himself Christopher Lee is releasing a 'symphonic metal album' on March 15.
The 87-year-old movie legend provides vocals on the concept record which tells the story of King Charlemagne, the First Holy Roman Emperor, who reigned in the eighth and ninth century.
Lee claims is of direct lineage to Charlemagne and says he has decided to record the album, titled 'Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross', in his honour.
In a Youtube posting, Lee enthused: "It's fascinating for me that at this stage in my life, people are beginning to look upon me as a metal singer. When this comes out as a complete album, it's going to be sensational."
He continued: “There's a lot of characters in this particular album. A lot. There's Charlemagne himself of course, which I sing, and then there's young Charlemagne, Charlemagne's father, Charlemagne's brother, ... [even] the Pope."
Musically, Italian composer Marco Sabiu will be providing the industrial orchestrals for what promises to be an intriguing listen.
Lee is the highest grossing actor of all time and has starred in movies including The Lord Of The Rings, Star Wars, The Man With The Golden Gun, The Wicker Man and the aforementioned Dracula.
