A spokesperson for Glastonbury has said they are “hoping” to confirm Muse as headliners at this year's festival.
It follows organiser Michael Eavis' revelation yesterday that talks were ongoing with Muse and Stevie Wonder to join previously announced headliners U2.
"We are hoping to confirm Muse for the Saturday, later today we hope,” a spokesperson told the BBC.
Speculation over the final two headliners at this year's festival intensified on Tuesday when organiser Emily Eavis revealed one would be a Glastonbury virgin.
Michael Eavis then told delegates at an event production show in London that Muse would headline on Saturday and Wonder close the event on Sunday.
But the festival's press office has stopped short of endorsing his claims.
When asked about Wonder's appearance, a spokesperson told BBC 6 Music: "It is very much a possibility but he's still only on Michael Eavis' wish list - so not 100% confirmed, it's pending."
The 40th anniversary edition of Glastonbury will take place on Worthy Farm in Somerset from June 23-27.
