Robbie Williams has re-recorded England football anthem 'Three Lions' ahead of the World Cup in South Africa, it's been reported.

The singer is understood to have become involved with the project after he met singer Ian Broudie at a West London recording studio.

Broudie, who recorded the original song with comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner in 1996, is due to release the updated version this summer.

Williams' contribution has been welcomed by his management company, who told The Sun the star was “happy to be involved”.

'Three Lions' topped the UK charts when it was released as the official anthem for England's participation in Euro 96.

It has since been re-released three times as the country's unofficial song at major football tournaments.
