Oasis have enjoyed a clean-sweep in a poll to find the best British song of all time.

The Manchester band, who split last year, took the top three places in the survey carried out by radio station XFM.

Listeners voted ‘Live Forever’ in first place, while ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ and ‘Wonderwall’ came second and third respectively.

Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ came fourth and ‘I Am The Resurrection’ by The Stones Roses was fifth, ensuring that the top-5 was dominated by Manchester bands.

Oasis’ hit ‘Champagne Supernova’ was also voted at number nine by listeners.

Other notable songs inside the top-10 included ‘My Generation’ by The Who at number eight and The Verve’s 'Bittersweet Symphony’ at number ten.
