- More Arcade Fire
A fan of Arcade Fire has spoken of his surprise after he received a copy of the band's new album that contained the wrong songs.
The fan, who contacted Gigwise but chose to remain anonymous, pre-ordered a copy of 'The Suburbs' via the band's website in June.
However, when it arrived on Monday (August 2) – the day of album's release – the CD featured a completely different tracklisting, despite being labelled 'The Suburbs' and including the official artwork.
Gigwise has since learned that the CD was actually disk two of a compilation album released to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Pukkelpop festival in Belgium.
The album, which was also released on Monday, features songs by The Kooks, The White Stripes and The Hives.
The fan told Gigwise: “I popped in the CD expecting a lovely bit of Arcade Fire and instead I got a compilation featuring the Kooks.
“Needless to say, I just lay on the floor and wept.”
It is not known if the incident is an isolated case or a more widespread printing error.
An email request for comment from Arcade Fire's record label was not returned at press time.
Meanwhile, Arcade Fire played the first of two shows at New York's Madison Square Garden last night (August 4).
