George Michael 'To Appeal Against Excessive Prison Sentence'

George Michael plans to appeal against his eight-week jail sentence, it’s been reported.

The former Wham! star was imprisoned on Tuesday (September 14) for crashing his car while under the influence of drugs.

But lawyers for the star want him to be bailed while they appeal, reports The Sun newspaper.

They are said to believe that his sentence for possessing cannabis and driving under the influence of drugs is "manifestly excessive".

Meanwhile, Michael’s partner Kenny Goss and manager are understood to have met with the star at Pentonville prison yesterday (September 16).

"George greeted Kenny and they started crying,” a source said, adding: “Neither wanted the other to leave."

The singer is apparently being held in the Vulnerable Prisoners Unit away from the main population at the prison.

On Thursday, it was claimed he had broken down during his first night behind bars.

Michael was arrested in July after he crashed into a photographic shop in Hampstead, London, causing extensive external damage.

  • No matter what he has done (and i am a fan of Georges music) But he should face up to what he has done. In reality, if i had have done the same. I dont think i would be able, to get a lighter sentence even if i were a famous pop star. Just face up to what you have done George, as you are there for a valid reason. You have done this twice now, if not more times but been lucky enough to get away with it. Stop living in fairyland and live where the rest of us live... reality

  • Why should he get off???!!! If it was one of us peasant Joe Blogs Public, we would be sentanced & not given the chance to gfet out after a day or two. Just because he's famous, why should he be let out to do the same again? Who knows next time he might kill somebody & be given an hours comunity service. Wish I was his Judge. He'd get 5 yrs for his cheek.
