Kings Of Leon's 'Only By The Night' has become the best-selling digital album ever in the UK.
The record, released in 2008, has sold 276,000 copies, which is narrowly ahead of Lady Gaga's debut 'The Fame'.
The US singer's 2009 album has been download 261,000 times, according to figures published by the Official Charts Company and BPI.
Martin Talbot, managing director of the Official Charts Company, said the impressive figures showed the growing strength of the digital marketplace.
“With Kings of Leon leading the way in the all-time list - 'Only By The Night' becoming the first album to sell more than quarter of a million copies - it won't be long before we see the first half-million-selling digital album,' he said.
Meanwhile, Kings Of Leon's new album 'Come Around Sundown' has leaked online two weeks ahead of its release.
The follow-up to 'Only By The Night' began appearing on file-sharing websites at the weekend.
