James Corden: I Won't Do A Ricky Gervais As BRIT Awards 2011 Host

James Corden has said he won't attempt to replicate Ricky Gervais's presenting style when he hosts the BRIT Awards in London tonight (February 15).

Last month, Gervais caused outrage as the host of the Golden Globes, opening the event with a series of controversial jokes.

Corden, who made his name as the writer and star of Gavin and Stacey, said he was aiming for a more low-key style when he takes to the stage at the O2 Arena.

"I'm not going to go down the Ricky Gervais road because, well, you can't in that room, anyway - there's a big difference between the 02 and the dining room in the Beverly Hilton," he told the Daily Mirror.

"Basically, I want to host the Brits with as much warmth and sensitivity as possible. Fewer gags. Mostly I've been following guidance from the producers. They're encouraging a positive, upbeat, interesting show as opposed to anything particularly risque."

Corden came under fire when it was announced last month that he was set to host ceremony.

The BRIT Awards kick off at 8pm (GMT). Gigwise will be bringing you all the coverage from the O2 Arena.
