Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker has said the band's new album will be a natural progression from the group's last effort.
The band, which also includes Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge, are currently recording the project following their reunion in 2009.
In an exclusive interview with Gigwise, Barker said sessions were going “really well” and that it was exciting to be back into the studio.
Asked how far along the band were with the album, the drummer said it was “hard to say”, but that fans could expect a familiar sound.
“The sound of the record I think will be kind of the same stuff as past Blink albums so it won’t be anything that people will be shocked by what we’re writing in the studio at the moment,” he said.
“If I was to disconnect myself from it and kind of take myself out of it and be a fan it feels like songs that have progressed from the last album.”
Blink-182 released their last studio album, which was self-titled, in 2003. Their new album has yet to be given a release date or title.
