Arcade Fire were joined onstage by Cyndi Lauper as they played the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival at the weekend.

The singer emerged to perform her 1983 hit 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun', which has become a staple in the Montreal-based band's live show.

Lauper was not introduced personally, but appeared after Win Butler said: "We'd like to do one of our favourite songs from the 80s.”

She also remained onstage to perform Arcade Fire's 'Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)' during the encore.

You can see video footage of Arcade Fire and Cyndi Lauper performing 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' below.
