Coldplay have responded to claims that they copied a 90s dance track on their latest single.
The track, entitled ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’, is thought to be from the band’s forthcoming new album.
Soon after its radio debut on Friday (June 3) many fans commented on YouTube that the song held a resemblance to 90s dance track 'Ritmo De La Noche'.
Chris Martin has now confirmed that he worked alongside Peter Allen and Adrienne Anderson on the track, whose own song 'I Go to Rio' was sampled in 'Ritmo De La Noche'.
A spokesman for Coldplay said: ‘‘Chris was inspired to write the song after watching the film Biutiful by Alejandro Gonzalez.
"In the film, there is a nightclub scene - during which a track is playing in the background, based on 'I Go To Rio' by Peter Allen and Adrienne Anderson. As a result, Allen and Anderson are also credited as writers on 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall'."
‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’ is available to download now in the UK
