Stone Roses Fans Wanted For Spike Island Film

Producers are to hold open auditions for The Stone Roses film Spike Island.

The movie, which uses The Stone Roses' legendary 1990 Spike Island gig as a backdrop, is holding audition for 'local lads' aged between 16 and 21 in Manchester this coming weekend (beginning July 9).

A press release has been issued, stating that no previous acting experience is needed, and that hopefuls should turn up at the Aurora Hotel between 10am and 4pm.

Spike Island was written by 24 Hour Party People actor Chris Coghill.

Misfits writer Tom Green will direct the project, with Digital Spy quoting him as saying: "This is a raw and truly authentic rites-of-passage story.

"It's full of the humour, heartache, dreams and fears of being part of a brotherhood of mates, and set to the greatest record ever written."

There is currently no release date set for Spike Island.
