They speak to Gigwise...

Festival-goers have been contacting Gigwise after Michael Eavis cast doubt over Glastonbury's long-term future.

Eavis, who owns Worthy Farm where the festival takes place, said music fans were starting to tire of festivals and that he believed Glastonbury has probably “another three or four years”.

Gigwise readers have been responding to Eavis's comments through Gigwise's Facebook comments – and the majority have been left upset by his statement.

Sonia Jo Butler said: “Noooo glasto rocks and will always rock!”

But others sympathised with Eavis's comments about the economic instability of staging such a high profile festival.

Jonathan Wooldridge said: “Understand where he is coming from. Some of the music choices for the big stages need to be looked at, and the ticket prices are getting to high.”

Tim Barker said it was up to festival-goers to ensure events survive.

He wrote: “Lets forget about the glitz, glamour and extravaganza; lets get back to basics and forget about "luxury" extras, wall to all media coverage and huge productions; lets stick to the festivals with tradition and heritage and forget about profit driven corporate monstrosities; lets treat festivals with respect and stop trashing them with litter, discarded gear and unbridled hedonism.”

Meanwhile, Gigwise writer Heather Steele has taken to our blog to discuss the problem of similar festival line ups.
