Band apologise to fans....
Take That have been forced to cancel a gig in Copenhagen tonight (July 16) after Robbie Williams suffered food poisoning.
In a statement, the band said Williams fell ill on Friday night (July 15) and was unable to recover in time for the second of two shows at Parken stadium.
“We are truly devastated to have had to cancel tonight's show in Denmark,” they said.
“This is the first show that we have ever had to cancel in our career as a band. It was a horrible decision to make and one we agonized over.”
Take That said doctors had treated Williams throughout the day but told him that despite prescribed medication he was not fit to perform.
They continued: “The five of us then had a decision to make: Should we go on with the show without Rob or should we cancel altogether? What would be fairer to our fans? What would people want? It was a very, very difficult decision. In the end we felt that as this tour is about the five of us being back together, and about celebrating that reunion, it would be wrong to go ahead with the show.”
They added that Williams was still “very unwell”, but they were hopeful he could recover in time for the next date on their Progress tour in Amsterdam on Monday (July 18).
It is not known whether the Copenhagen date will be re-arranged.
The band's kicked off the European leg of their Progress tour earlier this month following dates in the UK and Ireland. It marks Williams' first jaunt with the band in 15 years.
