Dan Peek, who found the band America, has died. He was 60.
Peek died in his sleep on Sunday (July 24), according to a statement on the band's website.
His former bandmate Dewey Bunnell said: “I am so sorry to learn of Dan’s passing”, and added that, along with Gerry Beckley, they had enjoyed a “joyous time together”.
Beckley said: "I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Dan's passing. He was a dear friend for many years.”
The trio former after meeting at London Central High School and were propelled to stardom by the single 'A Horse With No Name'.
Peek left America in 1977 to embark on a solo career, which was strongly influenced by his Christian beliefs.
