Jay-Z has explained the meaning behind the title for 'Watch The Throne', the new joint album with Kanye West.
'Watch The Throne' was released exclusively through iTunes on August 8 and includes collaborations with Frank Ocean and Jay-Z's wife Beyonce.
Speaking to radio station 99 Jamz, Jay-Z spoke about the album’s title: Watch the Throne, you protect it. You just watch how popular music shift[s], and just how hip hop basically replaced rock and roll as the youth music. The same thing can happen to hip hop. It can be replaced by other forms of music.
He added: So we [are] making sure that we put the effort into making the best product so we can contend with all this other music, with all the dance music that’s dominating the charts right now and indie music that’s dominating the festivals.
Meanwhile, Kanye West and Jay-Z have rescheduled the dates on their forthcoming tour in support of their new album 'Watch The Throne'.
