Lady Gaga Speaks About Cher Duet And Meat Dress Purse

Lady Gaga has spoken for the first time about her much-anticipated collaboration with Cher.

The pair have recorded a duet called 'The Greatest Thing', which will be the lead single from Cher's forthcoming 26th studio album.

Lady Gaga said she originally wrote the song for herself but struggled to find a place for it on her albums.

“I always write these concept records, and it just didn't fit in,” she told MTV News.

“But it's always been, like, this big, massive, beautiful hit record and everyone always says, 'Why don't you put that on your album?' And I said, 'I don't know, it just doesn't fit with everything else."

She added: "Cher heard the song and loved it and wanted to do it together. And I said, 'F*ck yeah, it's Cher!"

Lady Gaga and Cher struck up a relationship when the singer infamously handed Cher her meat purse at last year's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

"I don't think she realized I was handing her meat," Gaga said as she recalled the incident. “She was like, 'No problem, I'll hold your purse'.

“And then she just sort of had a steak in her hand, and was like, 'Thanks, bitch!'”

Lady Gaga is due to perform at this weekend's VMAs.
