Queen's Brian May has filmed a documentary about the government's proposed cull of thousands of badgers.

The Department for the Environment (Defra) have said that killing the animals is the best way to stop the spread of the cattle disease bovine tuberculosis.

The cabinet is said to be divided over the issue amid concerns that the cull may clash with next year's London Olympics, a time when police resources will be stretched.

May, who has been a long-time opponent to the plans, argued his case during an appearance on the BBC's The One Show.

The guitarist said he he wanted to raise “awareness” through the film.

He also added that he had sympathy with the farmers whose cattle had been affected by bovine TB, but that “culling is not the way to go”.
