Primal Scream have slammed X Factor after their 1994 single 'Rocks' was performed by a contestant on the show.
The band's track was performed on the show on Saturday night (October 22) by contestant Frankie Cocozza as part of 'Rock Week' theme.
Clearly not impressed, Primal Scream wrote on their official Twitter: "Sorry to hear 'Rocks' was used on 'X Factor'. We don't endorse this."
They also responded to a question from Lily Allen about the song's use by adding: "We weren't happy about the use of 'Rocks'."
As previously reported on Gigwise, Primal Scream said they were “totally disgusted” after the Tories used one of their songs at the Conservative Party Conference.
The track, 'Rocks', was used as Home Secretary Theresa May left the stage following her speech in Manchester.
In a statement issued to Q, Primal Scream said they were “totally opposed to the coalition government” and accused them of passing laws in favour of big business.
It said: "Primal Scream are totally disgusted that the Home Secretary Theresa May ended her speech at the Tory party conference with our song 'Rocks'. How inappropriate. Didn't they research the political history of our band?
“Hasn't she listened to the words? Does she even know what getting your rocks off means? No. She is a Tory; how could she?”
It later emerged that the actual track used was The Dandy Warhols' 'Bohemian Like You'.
