Foo Fighters recent show in New Zealand earlier this week (December 13) caused volcanic scale tremors .
The band, who released latest album 'Wasting Light earlier this year, were performing at the Western Springs when 50,000 fans' in attendance dancing caused the ground to tremble.
According to Rolling Stone the vibrations were recorded by two seismic stations. Tenacious D's support set was the first recorded, while the biggest tremor hit when Foo Fighters took to the stage
Scientists from Auckland GeoNet explained: "The cause of the shaking is most likely the weight of the 50,000 fans dancing, as 50,000 fans is equal to around 5,000 tonnes of mass moving (or moshing) on the ground for the duration of the concert.
"This set up a nice harmonic vibration in the ground which was recorded in our nearby borehole seismometers."
Meanwhile, Foo Fighters have announced that they will head back into the studio next year to start work on a new album.
The band revealed that they have stated working on new ideas for their next effort.
