Arctic Monkeys ruined the NYE countdown at an Australian festival, after leaving the stage minutes before midnight.
The band, who were performing at Falls Festival in Lorne, Victoria, were unaware that they played a key part in the New Year's Eve countdown.
After playing for just over an hour, the band left the stage, minutes before they due to lead the countdown.
Realising their mistake the band returned to the stage at 12.01 am, reports Music Feeds.
Alex Turner told the crowd: Sorry we thought someone else had organised a countdown … let’s do one now then shall we?
Meanwhile, Arctic Monkeys look set to take America by storm in 2012, following relentless touring and promotion this year.
The Sheffield band, who released latest album 'Suck It And See' in May', revealed that their new material has gone down well with American fans.
