The Lostprophets have spoken about the 'drought' of rock n' roll music in the chars at the moment.
The band, who release new album 'Weapons' in April, told BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe that the lack of decent music in the UK inspired them to write their new album.
''That's why we started, it was like, 'Why is no-one making decent music? We'll have to do it ourselves'', said lead singer Ian Watkins
He added: "It's been nice to have a break but I think what's out at the moment is very saturated now, it's reaching the point where you're like 'enough'.
"It's kind of the same thing [now], I'm fuelled by healthy competition. That's why we're coming back. The world needs us."
The band's fifth album, set for release April 2, is the follow up to 2010's 'The Betrayed'.
A free download of their new track 'Better Off Dead' will be released tomorrow (January 6) through their Facebook page.
