Justin Timberlake has launched Myspace TV at a conference earlier this week.

The singer/actor is now set to take a 'major role' in the new direction of the social network site after becoming part of the group that has bought MySpace from News Corp in a deal worth $35 million last year.

Timberlake appeared at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on Monday night (January 9) and discussed how the social networking site is rebranding.

Myspace TV is set to combine over 42 million songs and 100,000 music videos in a step to build up their online community.

''The future of Myspace is about what you’re going to do. About who you’re going to become. Myspace TV is the first foray into that future,'' he said.

We're ready to take television and entertainment to the next step by upgrading it to the social networking experience," said Timberlake. "Why text or email your friends to talk about your favorite programs after they've aired when you could be sharing the experience with real-time interactivity from anywhere across the globe?"

Myspace has lost millions of dollars since it was knocked off its place as the dominant social network site in 2008.
