The Ting Tings have revealed the difficulties they faced while recording their second album 'Sounds From Nowheresville.'

The pair have said how they have purposely gone out of their way to avoid “cheap, nasty hits.”

The band release their second album on February 27, but told the Guardian that they do not expect the album to be as successful as their debut 'We Started Nothing' and that they'd rather sell fewer records than have their music fit alongside the likes of David Guetta on daytime radio playlists.

When asked whether they thought if any of the tracks of their new release would become 'big hits' they said “ we would rather puke on our own feet" than sit alongside the likes of Guetta on radio playlists and that they aren't after "cheap nasty hits".

"We would rather write songs that nobody's going to hear than write dance tracks that would fit on the radio after David Guetta", vocalist Katie White added: "I'd rather puke on my own feet than that".

Jules De Martino added: "It would have been so easy to quickly bash out any old shit off the back of the first album. Get it on the radio, have a cheap nasty hit. And we didn't want to do that."

“We can only ever write anything when we're down. Who wants to hear an album from an artist that's happy? Because the content line tends to be: I'm sitting on a beach, how's life for you? And right now a lot of people's answer is likely to be: well not very good actually, we won't buy your record.”
