The Who’s Pete Townshend has been left devastated after a fire tore its way through his £3million London home.
The mansion, which was once owned by the poet Lord Alfred Tennyson, was the current residence of Townshends estranged wife Karen, reports FemaleFirst.
Luckily she was on holiday in Italy when the blaze broke out. The fire has destroyed antique fittings and furniture as well as demolishing the roof.
Townshend who played at last weekend’s Live 8 event has said: "It's a great shame the fire damaged the place. Tennyson used to live there but not during his happiest times. My wife was in the process of having it redeveloped."
