The Cure have been hotly tipped to headline this year's Reading and Leeds festival.

The band, fronted by Robert Smith, are reported to be joining Kasabian and Foo Fighters at the event over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.

The headline slot is believed to be The Cure's first-announced UK dates of 2012, reports Holy Moly!

In the build-up to this month's festival line-up announcement the internet is filled with a number of 'official line-up' posters.

The latest, which appeared online last week (February 28) features Florence And The Machine, Bloc Party and Soundgarden.

The Cure are shown to be headlining Reading on the Friday (August 24) and Leeds on Saturday (August 25) with support from Dizzee Rascal, Placebo, The Gaslight Anthem and All Time Low.

Kasabian will headline the main stage on the Saturday (August 25) at Reading and Sunday (August 26) at Leeds. Mumford & Sons, Two Door Cinema Club, Maximo Park, The Vaccines and Jack White will also appear.

The picture shows Foo Fighters headlining the Sunday (August 26) stage at Reading, and Friday (August 24) at Leeds with Tenacious D, Korn, Mastodon and Less Then Jake.

Kaiser Chiefs, The Kooks, Lostprophets, Enter Shikari, The Black Keys and Maccabesslso feature on the line-up.

Fans will be able to buy tickets as soon as the line-up is announced at 7.15pm (GMT) on March 12. The festival takes place over the weekend of August 26-28.
