Reading and Leeds festival goers are unlikely to be going thirsty at this year's festival, as organiser Melvin Benn has promised ticket-holders free beer.
The man behind the double-hitting summer weekender made the announcement in an interview, but admits the scheme could leave him out of pocket.
"At the end of the day everyone wants a beer and a burger, don't they? So somehow I'm going to do that. Ultimately I'm going to try and get the sponsors to pay for it if I can," said Benn. "If they don't I'll be paying for it myself.
"It's tough for kids at the minute, students and people not working and money being tight. I just want to give something back."
Organisers for Reading and Leeds festival were unavailable for comment, but the event's PR company told Gigwise: "Details are still TBC at the moment but it is still something we definitely want to do."
The full Reading and Leeds line-up is due to be announced on Monday, 12 2012 at 7:15pm.
