Bruce Springsteen has toppled British singing sensation Adele from the top of the US Billboard charts to score his tenth No.1. His 17th studio album, 'Wrecking Ball' debuts at the top spot, having sold 196,000 records sold in its first week of stateside release.
The American rocker, dubbed 'The Boss' by his army of fans, ties with Elvis as the artist with the third most No.1 albums in history. Only The Beatles (with 19) and Jay-Z (with 12) have scored more.
Adele's second album '21' was knocked from the top spot and to No.2, with 195,000. The British singer's album has spent 23 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard charts.
Bruce Springsteen's first number one smash hit came in the 1980s with his album 'The River'. His last album, 2009s 'Working On A Dream' also hit the top spot when it launched, selling 224,000 copies. On January 24 2012, Springsteen announced via his official website that the E Street Band will commence a world tour to commemorate the release of the new album.
