The organiser of Reading and Leeds festival has tipped The Vaccines and Bombay Bicycle Club as future headliners as the UK summer event.

Both bands will perform at this year's double-header, although neither is headlining. The man behind the festival, Melvyn Benn, believes both will headlining the event in the near future.

"Last year’s performances from both Bombay and The Vaccines saw them really claim that audience space and demand the attention they deserve and the performances from both bands last year were brilliant," said Benn. "They just feel like they are going to be headliners in the future."

Benn attibuted both bands' appeal to reaching listeners who were not typically fans of indie bands.

"Kids who are not into guitar bands also seem to be into both bands," he added. "They're crossover bands."

Reading and Leeds Festival will take place 24-25 August 2012, with Kasabian, The Cure and Foo Fighters headlining the event.
