Madonna has responded to producer Deadmau5's Facebook rant following allegations that the singer supported drug use following a speech at the Miami Ultra Music Festival.

The producer slammed Madonna for 'reaching a new level of idiocy' by asking the crowd at the dance festival: 'Have you seen Molly?' - believed to be a reference to party drug MDMA.

Madonna responded to Deadmau5 on Twitter, saying: "From one mouse to another. I don't support drug use and I never have. I was referring to the song called 'Have you seen Molly' written by my friend Cedric Gervais who I almost worked with on my album.

Madonna set up her Twitter account for one day only, in order to answer fans questions about her new album, 'MDNA'.

Deadmau5 responded to Madonna's tweet, saying: "Fair enough. I was just voicing my concerns as I usually do. +1 respect for clearing it up personally."

A diplomatic Madonna closed the conversation, adding: "Communication is always best. You should have called me first, we could have cleared it up "privately." ;) See you on the road."

Madonna's new album is out now. Read our review of 'MDNA' here.
