The organiser of Download festival has taken to Twitter to speak out about the cancellation of Sonisphere 2012.
Andy Copping, the man behind what many see as the UK's last standing major UK rock festival this year, revealed that the cancellation of Sonisphere brings him no pleasure.
"Please do not expect me to revel in someone else's misfortune. That is not cool. I feel sorry for the fans more than anything.," he told followers on Twitter. He also added: "It's not cool if people think I'm jumping for joy. They definitely don't know me."
He also confirmed that Download festival would not be extending it's 2012 run to cover any Sonisphere ticket holders now looking for an alternative event. "Download will be remaining a three day, five day camping festival...no additional days are being added," said Copping.
Sonisphere's cancellation was announced last night (28 March, 2012) when headliner Queen posted a statement on their site announcing the festival was being pulled from its summer slot. Festival organisers made an official statement this morning confirming that the festival would not take place in 2012.
The Prodigy, Metallica and and newly reformed Black Sabbath will headline Download 2012.
