Outkast's Andre 3000 will play Jimi Hendrix in a new movie adaptation of the iconic guitarists life.

'All Is By My Side' will tell the story of Hendrix, specificaly the time he spent in England between 1966-1967 as he worked on debut album 'Are You Experienced'.

The 'Hey Ya' star will play the lead role in the film, which is due to start filming this week in Ireland. The shoot is expected to last around six weeks. John Ridley, whose writing credits include writing Three Kings, Undercover Brothers and Red Tails will direct.

Andre 3000's acting roles have so far included parts in Semi-Pro, Charlotte's Web, The Shield and Outkast movie, Idlewild.
