Set to claim a No.1 single this week with her new release 'R.I.P.', Rita Ora has spoken out about her early years as a refugee in Kosovo.
The star is on course to topple Tulisa from the No.1 spot this week, but has revealed that her newfound chart success is a long way from her early days in war-torn Kosovo.
"I left Kosovo aged one. We were lucky that my mum and dad left early," she tells The Sun newspaper. "I can speak fluent Albanian because we spoke it in the house.
"I’ve been back to Kosovo quite a lot. When someone expands to do something out of our country it’s a big deal because there aren’t many opportunities, unfortunately."
Ora also says that she is struggling to bring her Kosovan heritage into her work, adding: "I wish I could translate Kosovan music into my album. I tried but it doesn’t work yet. I’ll do it though. And I definitely want to play shows over there in the future and raise some money."
