Ricky Gervais has revealed his love for Coldplay, defending the band against harsh criticism, even if they aren't 'the coolest band in the world'.
Comedian Gervais made the statement in the latest issue of Q, in which he shows his appreciation for big bands who play things 'straight down the line'. Discussing the 'Mylo Xyloto' band, Gervais says:
"Coldplay. There's obviously a backlash against them." Adding: "When you meet them they're nice, funny, normal people who are trying to be excellent at something.
"You can only applaud that. You can dislike their stuff but you can only applaud that attitude, you know?"
Chris Martin and Gervais have previous with the Coldplay frontman appearing in an episode of the sitcom Extras.
Meanwhile, Coldplay kicked off the UK leg of their world tour in Coventry last night.
