Take That and the return to the stage of George Michael will see the Olympic Games in London have a spectacular finish this Summer, it has been confirmed.

A massive, two and a half hour show is being planned with Take That to headline the event. George Michael, recently recovered from a bout of pneumonia will also make his UK return at the big gig.

Emeli Sande and The Who complete the line up, with organisers keen to represent the past fifty year of popular music in the UK on the bill.

"It is imperative the games close in spectacular fashion and that there is substance as well as style," a source told The Mirror. Adding: "The committee wanted four major artists, representing Britain over the past 50 years, to headline."

It was previously reported that Sir Paul McCartney would perform at the Olympic closing ceremony though it is now thought he will open the Games on July 27th instead.
