A 19-year-old man died at this weekend's Rockness festival from a suspected drug overdose.

Media reports report that the reveller at the Loch Ness festival collapsed on Saturday night (9 June, 2012). He was taken to the site's medical tent before being transferred to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. He failed to respond to treatment and died in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police confirmed drug suspicions in an official statement on the death.

"Early indications are that the man may have consumed drugs and this is one of the lines of inquiry at this stage," said police investigating the death. "A post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death. His next of kin have been informed."

The teenager has not been named but is believed to have been from Portobello in Edinburgh. Two men were killed in a road collision when a van collided with a bus en route to the festival.
