England tasted the bitter pill that is exiting an international tournament on penalties yet again last night, going down to Italy and leaving Euro 2012 at the Quarter Final stage.

Of course, such a devastating and frustrating moment needed an appropriate piece of music to accompany the mood of the nation and the BBC opted for a cover version of Linkin Park's 'In The End'.

Recorded by the duo Us, the cover transforms Linkin Park's aggressive original into a maudlin, slightly twee, style. Us are Californian's Carissa Rae and Michael Alvarado, who teamed up after finding success individually on YouTube.

Tweeting about their new found fame after an audience of around 23 million people watched the credits roll on another loss for Wayne Rooney and co, Us said: 'Just got word that our cover of "In The End" was played on BBC for the England Vs. Italy game #euro2012! So Cool!'
