Carl Barat hints at Libertines reunion

The Libertines vocalist and guitarist Carl Barat has taken to Twitter to suggest another band reunion could be on the cards, saying he would be ‘up for it’.

‘Well what can I say? Is another reunion pushin it? I’m up for it…?’ Barat tweeted last night, leading to rumours that the 'Can't Stand Me Now' band could get back together for the first time since 2010.

In previous interviews with NME, Barat has said he and fellow member Pete Doherty will ‘pick up where we left off’. However, any reunion will have to wait after a source recently announced that Doherty had flown out to Thailand to go to rehab. The trip abroad has meant Doherty had to cancel his headline appearance at next weekend’s T In The Park festival.

Barat also said in the NME interview that he is ‘always out with Pete, just sometimes in a visible place and other times not. We had a good chat and we’re both getting on fine.’ In 2011 Barat said there was ‘no Libertines future’.

The English rock band formed in 1997 after the two singers met in a pub in the capital.
