Lady Gaga, Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus have all unfollowed US celebrity blogger Perez Hilton on Twitter after comments he made about One Direction's Zayn Malik on the site.
Mailk left the social networking site yesterday after complaining of the "useless opinions and hate" that he received every day.
His decision followed a video posted by Hilton allegedly showing the boyband star, who's girlfriend is Little Mix's Perrie Edwards, asking a different girl back to his hotel room.
A female fan of the band staying in Malik's hotel shot the video and the One Direction star, who had five million followers, deleted his Twitter account just before the video was published on Hilton's site.
Now Hilton is being blamed by fans and other celebrities alike for Malik's decision to quit Twitter, after the blogger Tweeted: "One Direction's Zayn Malik DELETES His Twitter! Called it! I said he'd be the first to leave 1D! This is the beginning."
A torrent of One Direction fans have responded negatively to Hilton's Tweet and he has now become a worldwide trending topic on the site for more than a day.
One Twitter user, @DirectionerDiva, wrote: "Your friend Lady Gaga left you. The ever sweet Britney Spears unfollowed you. Nobody likes you, @PerezHilton. Exile yourself from humanity."
Another, @antispoonpigeon, also wrote: "Lady Gaga unfollowed Perez Hilton after his tweet to Zayn? YOU GO GAGA !"
But Hilton seems to be enjoying the attention, as he Tweeted: "Perez Hilton is STILL a worldwide trending topic on Twitter! So cray cray! #Loves."
One Direction are headlining BBC Radio 1's Teen Awards at Wembley Arena on 7 October along with US singer Taylor Swift.
