Lyrics to the song have been replaced with Geordie slang by female duo May Arcade, who perform the song on acoustic guitars.
The duo's new lyrics to the chorus of the song go as follows: "Yeah, I just met ya like, and this is mental, but here's me number, so giz a ring wee pet."
The video of May Arcade's reinterpretation, which can be watched below, was uploaded last week and has since been viewed almost a million times on YouTube.
The Carly Rae Jepsen song has been covered many times in various different ways by artists since its release earlier this year.
One of the most successful songs of the year, the track was last week announced by music streaming service Spotify to be the third most streamed track of the summer.
