'Candy' singer Robbie Williams has revealed that quitting smoking has led him to pile on the pounds - thwarting his hopes of modelling a new underwear range he is set to launch.

The singer puts his new found 'fat' physique down to quitting smoking, and says his physique after quitting the fags forced him to take up a rigorous exercise regime to battle the bulge.

"I gave up smoking and put on two stone so I went, 'Right, I think skinny jeans are not for me right now (good idea) so I'll hit the gym'," he tells The Mirror newspaper.

The singer is currently planning to design his own range of underwear, just like how David Beckham did. He wants to model them himself too, but feels like he is 'too fat' at the moment.

'Modelling my own undies is something I'm definitely interested in but I can't separate me from chocolate just now."

"I've just got to keep my feet out of the pantry. I'm nearly 40 so it's now or never to lose weight."

'We need to ban chocolate. My fans should stop giving me Revels!'

Robbie has recently announced details of his comeback album 'Take The Crown'
