New American Idol judge Nicki Minaj has revealed she found the first season of American Idol 'inspirational' and says she voted for series six winner Jordin Sparks.
The 'Pound The Alarm' rapper has recently joined the judging panel of the US talent show alongside Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and long-running judge Randy Jackson. She spoke of her love for the show during a press conference for the show.
"I remember watching American Idol in the first season and feeling inspired," said Minaj at an American Idol press conference this week "I spoke to [season 6 winner] Jordin Sparks the other day and here she is starring in a movie ['Sparkle'] and I said to her, 'I remember watching you and picking up my phone."
Minaj claims that Sparks, who scored UK hits with tracks such as 'Tattoo' and 'No Air', is part of 'history' after appearing on the show.
"I told her that, 'you know you're a part of history, kind of," she added. "Because I remember calling and seeing your face and being inspired and hearing your story.
"It's really serious, it's real deal it's not anything else other than really looking for talent. If I can be a part of that I'm really down for it."
