A female fan has been killed while queuing for a Linkin Park show in Cape Town after a structure collapsed, with several other fans injured.
Gale force winds caused the scaffolding to collapse, and the woman was killed under a banner for Lucozade - despite the fact that the advertising hoarding had apparently been certified as safe by structural engineers before the event.
Twenty people waiting for the gig outside Green Point stadium were injured, with twelve being taken to hospital. Currently, only one fan has died due to her injuries.
The band posted a statement on their website, expressing their sadness over the tragedy.
They wrote, "Following our performance tonight at Cape Town Stadium, we were advised that several people were injured as a result of the collapse of an advertising tower erected by Lucozade in the parking area outside the venue.
"We wish to express our deep sadness and concern for those injured and our heartfelt condolences to the family of the fan who died as a result of her injuries.
"Though we have had no relationship with the sponsor or the entity responsible for erecting the structure, we take the safety of our fans very seriously and our thoughts are with all of those who were affected by this tragedy."

A spokesperson for Cape Town, Kylie Hatton, said that the commanding officer at the operation centre had declared the site safe after they had taken down the branding - so the concert was able to go ahead as planned.
The spokesperson for Big Concerts, Dionne Domyan, added: "We would like to thank the City of Cape Town, the South African Police Services, and all the medics, doctors, and disaster risk personnel for their swift and professional response to this accident."
She also confirmed that structural engineers had "pre-approved and certified safe" the structure.
Linkin Park's tour will continue with the next show at Johannesburg on Saturday.
