The iconic Beatles guitarist George Harrison's leather jacket has been bought by a private collector at a recent London auction for £110,000.

As with most Beatles memorabilia, the item was quickly snapped up at a recent auction, which sold over 100 items dating back to the band. The black leather jacket is traceable to the band's early performance in Hamburg in Germany in 1960. The item was particularly desirable as Harrison frequently wore the jacket onstage during early Beatles performances.

Other paraphernalia that sold during the auction included a guitar used by Paul McCartney in the 1950's, which sold for over £43,000 (£10,000 more than it's estimated price) and a pair of Harrison's custom made leather boots. Beatles items are infamously sought after, with a rejected audition tape being sold to a collector for £35,000 at an auction last week. John Lennon's hand-painted Rolls Royce Phantom V famously fetched $2,230,000 when it was auctioned in 1985.

How much would you pay for George Harrison's jacket?

Coldplay recently sold artwork from their Mylo Xyloto album at auction for over £600k - and hinted at auctioning a night with Guy Berryman from the band.

Madonna's old bra is also set for sale in London, with the conical item expected to fetch up to £15,000.
