Les Miserables director, Tom Hooper, is rumoured to be working on an upcoming Freddie Mercury biopic.
The film would see Hooper working again with Sacha Baron Cohen, who has long been attached to the role of Freddie, and who also starred in Les Miserables. According to Deadline, there is no formal offer yet.
Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal, Graham King and Tim Headington are also attached to produce the project, which was previously supposed to start shooting in 2011, but was held up due to contractual obligations.
Brian May released a statement last year saying that the film would hopefully be ready for release 'early in 2014'.
I promised news of yesterday's Queen band meeting. Our main agenda was the Freddie film, which I'm happy to tell you is on course," he said.
"Much of our discussion was about contractual things, it's pretty complex, and determining who is responsible for what. The pieces are all falling into place, though we are now on a slightly later schedule - filming is now scheduled to start in the Spring, with Sacha Baron Cohen playing Freddie."

The statement finished, "The film should be ready for release early in 2014. We did make some other plans, but they will have to stay under wraps for now. [Mercury] must be wryly smiling somewhere!"
The movie has a working title of Mercury, and will be written by Oscar nominated screenwriter Peter Morgan.
