More about:

One Direction singer Harry Styles is reportedly working on tracks for his debut solo album, with Ed Sheeran also said to be working with the boyband star on the record.

Tabloid sources claim the teenage pop lothario is using down time from One Direction's world tour to hit Hollywood recording studios to work on early versions of tracks for his debut album - but also state that Styles remains committed to One Direction, for the time being at least.

"He loves messing around with some of the new songs he’s been working on," says a source to The Mirror newspaper. "He’s bounced some ideas off his friend Ed Sheeran and has already laid down some vocals."

"Harry’s priority is obviously still with 1D," they unknown gossip adds. "But when he decides the time to go solo has arrived, he’s likely to have a project raring to go."

Fans of Styles and the boyband may have to wait for up to three years to hear the fruits of his labour however, after it was recently claimed that the five-piece had signed a huge record deal, keeping them together until 2016 with the promise of millions of pound in revenue if they didn't quit before that time.

Styles is said to be using time off from the boyband's tour to record alone

Tabloid sources claimed in January 2013 that their record bosses at Sony are keen to keep the money rolling in from album and ticket sales for the boyband, and that Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik have signed a contract which will keep them togethether until 2016.

"It's a really clever contract that the boys have signed up to," says a source to The Sun newspaper. "It means they have a real incentive to tough it out and stick together."

Furthermore, the contract states that One Direction will release a new album every year while their contract lasts - meaning we are less than 12 months away from another 1D record.
