The Yeah Yeah Yeahs posted a sign to concert-goers ahead of their concert in New York asking them to please put their cameras away.

The band were playing a homecoming concert at Webster Hall before their upcoming set at Coachella festival, and did not want fans to spend their time filming it on their cameras or smart phones.

Spin magazine posted a photo of the sign, which stated, "PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THE SHOW THROUGH A SCREEN ON YOUR SMART DEVICE/CAMERA.

"PUT THAT S**T AWAY as a courtesy to the person behind you and to Nick, Karen and Brian. MUCH LOVE AND MANY THANKS! YEAH YEAH YEAHS."

According to Spin, frontwoman Karen O also repeated the request while performing on stage. During 'Gold Lion', she apparently told the crowd to take as many photos as they wanted for the next few minutes but to then "put those motherf**kers away."

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are not the only band who feel this way. Jarvis Cocker told The Quietus last year, "People feel the need to film events on their phones so they can relive it later. It drives me insane at concerts. It's just happening, innit? Why not just look at it? It seems stupid to have something happening in front of you and look at it on a screen that's smaller than the size of a cigarette packet."

He added, "If anything it undermines the experience, because it seemed like a really good moment, and now I can see it were crap."
