This year's Great Escape festival is set to get off to a sunny start in Brighton today, but early attendees will want to make the most of Thursday's warm weather - as it is not set to last.

The South Coast event kicks off today (16 May, 2013) and day one of the festival will see the Sussex coast enjoying cloudless skies and sunshine for most of the day. As the evening approaches however, forecasters predict an overcast end to day one, and the weather is unlikely to improve over the weekend.

Friday is expected to remain dry, with cloud cover expected throughout the day, while Saturday is expected to see a mixture of weather, with sunshine and showers set for the afternoon of the festival's final day.

The event will be headlined by Bastille, Billy Bragg and Everything Everything who will all play shows at the Brighton Dome.

Elsewhere the line-up is just as impressive though. CHVRCHES, Deap Valley and Is Tropical are all among the acts on offer at this year's event.

Brighton will be packed with festival goers from Thursday to Saturday

Tom Prior, Catfish and The Bottlemen, Sean Nicholas Savage and Snakadaktal will all be gracing the Gigwise stage on day one of the festival, offering a varied and diverse music experience for attendees.

The festival, which is spread across a number of venues around the coastal city, is the biggest showcase festival in the UK, and is sometimes described as the SXSW of Britian.
