The National have announced a surprise show at The Roundhouse in London just days before Glastonbury.

The last minute announcement has sparked speculation that the New York band could play a secret set at Worthy Farm.

Announcing the gig on their Facebook page, The National posted: "Hi London! We thought it would be fun to play at the Roundhouse on June 26th. Our friends Local Natives will be there too. Tickets go on sale at 9am local time on June 12th. Hope to see you there!"

The surprise London date is currently the band's only scheduled in Britain until their UK tour in November.

The band's latest album, Trouble Will Find Me, peaked at No.3 in the UK albums chart and marks one of the finest in their career.

Reviewing the album, we said: "If there’s one thing that’s clear from Trouble Will Find Me, it’s that here is a band staunchly set on trudging their own path – and firmly cementing their status as the Greatest American Band of Our Generation in the process."
